Before I tell you about myself, let me tell you about YOU:
You are kind. You are easy going and make friends easily. You are quiet at first but you have a bit of a wild side underneath that soccer mom exterior. You are loyal to those you love, and you try to put them first. You also like to try new things. You are open minded and are ready to do something for you!
If this sounds like you, please allow me to introduce myself:
I‘m Jess, and I’m going to be your photographer.
That may sound a bit presumptuous, but I assure you, it’s just good old fashioned positive thinking :)
My clients enjoy working with me because I am super laid back and sessions with me are fun and relaxing.
I understand the unique combination of joy and stress that comes from raising a family or just being a caregiver in general, and how sometimes we put ourselves on the back burner when we prioritize things. It’s my job to help you to put yourself first for just a little while and realize your dreams of seeing yourself as the beautiful being that your loved ones see you as (even when they ARE driving you crazy!).
As a mother of four, (3 of which have varying degrees of special needs) there’s not a war story you can tell me that I can’t nod my head to in solidarity! It’s not always easy, but it’s always worth it.
I met my husband in 2007 after going through a not-so-pleasant divorce, and he has been the best thing to ever happen to my 3 oldest children and I. In 2009 we welcomed our daughter and rounded out our family with 2 boys and 2 girls. (Hello, blended family dynamics!) We also have 2 cats and a dog who were rescued in various different ways, as well as 8 chickens who keep us in a steady supply of fresh eggs!
My husband also acts as an integral part of my business, though he doesn’t participate in the photoshoots themselves, he assists with proofing images, editing, troubleshooting, and many other behind the scenes tasks that make him an equal and essential part of Jessica Michael Photography, which is precisely why the business was named after both of us!
Our family feels strongly about supporting local small businesses and getting back to basics. We purchase a lot of food from local farms and the co-op that recently opened in our home town. In the summer months we like to take camping trips that allow us to spend a week or so in different areas exploring the local history
